This book tells about the journey of the European explorers in the 15th century search for the Spice Islands, now known as the Banda Islands in Maluku. The story builds upon historical records of the British expedition to the ship Swan, led by Captain Nathaniel Courthope ordered by King James I to find the spices to the Island Run (one of the islands in the Banda Islands).

This journey in those days was an adventure that is very dangerous, not only because of the explorers themselves do not know the intended location of the island, but also because the technology is still shipping the old and there is no reliable map of the world so that each rover will then draw their own maps . At the time of spices known as 'green gold' has a very high value in Europe. One bag of spices alone can make a person become rich all his life.

The Portuguese who in the 14th century has landed in Banda but was unable to establish their own trade, is what encourages other countries to find a path to Banda. Nathaniel Courthope travel story contains many lessons of history to understand the past and came to their future.
