AMBON, 6-7 AUGUST 2010.

Introduction.

Eastern Indonesia faces many development challenges which are very complex, particularly those related to poverty and food security. Food security problems not only deal with issues of food sufficiency but also food quality issues. Food quality associated with the processing of food by the consumer-end, which since the commencement of food crops are still cultivated by farmers. This is the significance of the concept of biological resilience or biosecurity, biosecurity reasons related to food security and quality of life of communities in Eastern Indonesia.

The main question is how can we further address these challenges, taking into account cultural diversity, and the remoteness of the area and the distribution of population in this vast area?
